Digital Media for Visual Artists
This studio art course investigates the intersection of visuality, contemporary art, and digital imaging technologies from an aesthetic, historical, and artistic perspective for the contemporary artist. Coursework includes technical demonstrations, art assignments, theoretical readings, and in-class discussions. Assignments challenge students to consider some effects of digital photography and digital image processing on pictorial and spatio-temporal art making. Students develop problem solving and visual strategies that deepen their understanding of the connection among technology, personal expression, and art practice.
